For too long church leaders have focused on increasing the size of their church rather than increasing their reach outside of the four walls of the church building. The result? Church life becomes a predictable set of routines with predictable results. Church members struggle to reach the neighborhoods they drive through on their way to church programs, unable to penetrate their surrounding communities in a meaningful way. Reaching the Unreached recounts the stories, struggles, and triumphs of individuals and churches that have reinvented themselves to meet the world where it is, working to reach the ones that no one else is reaching.

The search for the “silver bullet” of success has diverted us from tapping into the timeless principles found in the book of Acts, says author, pastor, and front-line church planter Peyton Jones. Yet the spiritual climate that Paul and the Apostles stepped into is not all that different from the brave new world the church faces today.

From accidentally planting a church in a Starbucks in Europe, to baptizing members of the Mexican mafia in Long Beach Harbor, Jones has been on the frontlines of today’s missional movement and has lived to tell the tale. In Reaching the Unreached, he teaches church planters, pastors, and church leaders how to convert pew jockeys into missionaries and awake the sleeping giant of Christ’s church, one person at a time.

Today there are two types of churches: those who put their proverbial heads in the sand, and those who champion 1st century principles, meet the challenges head on, and embrace the adventure of mission in community. Tomorrow, only one type of church will surviveーthose that accept the challenge to reach the unreached.

Many people equate evangelical Christianity with conservatism in religion, politics, theology and social attitudes. Some are scandalized by any separation between them. As one evangelical pastor's wife declared to a church group "We are a conservative people!" In fact, however, evangelicals have not always been conservative; radical stances on doctrines, worship, social norms, politics and church leadership have often marked evangelicalism in the past. The 2007 movie Amazing Grace about William Wilberforce's protracted battle against the slave trade featured a small group of British evangelicals committed to abolition. The same radicalism characterized much of American evangelicalism in the years before the Civil War. In recent years the American media have portrayed the evangelical movement as a conservative force in society sometimes equating it with fundamentalism and puritanism. The missing piece of the story is, however, that both fundamentalism and puritanism contained radical elements that opposed the status quo. This book sets forth evidence that the link between evangelicalism and conservatism has not always been as strong as it is today in the popular mind and it will provide suggestions for contemporary evangelicals who want to remain evangelical (and not become "post-evangelical") without identifying with conservatism in every way.

“Fasting is the body talking what the spirit yearns, what the soul longs for, and what the mind knows to be true.”

ー Scot McKnight

Christianity has traditionally been at odds with the human body. At times in the history of the church, Christians have viewed the body and physical desires as the enemy. Now, Scot McKnight, best-selling author of The Jesus Creed , reconnects the spiritual and the physical in the ancient discipline of fasting.

Inside You'll Find:

In-depth biblical precedents for the practice of fasting;

How to fast effectivelyーand safely;

Different methods of fasting as practiced in the Bible;

Straight talk on pitfalls, such as cheating and motivation.

Join McKnight as he explores the idea of “whole-body spirituality,” in which fasting plays a central role. This ancient practice, he says, doesn’t make sense to most of us until we have grasped the importance of the body for our spirituality, until we can view it as a spiritual response to a sacred moment. Fastingーsimple, primitive, and ancientーstill demonstrates a whole person’s earnest need and hunger for the presence of God, just as it has in the lives of God’s people throughout history.

The Ancient Practices

There is a hunger in every human heart for connection, primitive and raw, to God. To satisfy it, many are beginning to explore traditional spiritual disciplines used for centuries . . . everything from fixed-hour prayer to fasting to sincere observance of the Sabbath. Compelling and readable, the Ancient Practices series is for every spiritual sojourner, for every Christian seeker who wants more.

Names have power--and knowing God's name is to enjoy a kind of privileged access to him. Join bestselling author Ann Spangler as she invites you to experience God's love and power by exploring the Hebrew names of God.

Names in the ancient world did more than simply distinguish one person from another. In fact, they often conveyed the essential nature and character of a person. This is especially true when it comes to the names of God recorded in the Bible: El Shaddai, Elohim, Adonai, Abba, El Elyon.

Praying the Names of God is a twenty-six-week devotional study that explores the most prominent names of God in the Old Testament to reveal the deeper meanings behind them and to teach you how to pray through them. Each name or title is broken down into three sections each week:

Monday: Study a portion of Scripture that reveals a specific name of God

Tuesday through Thursday: Pray specific Scripture passages related to the name

Friday: Pray Scripture promises connected to the name

As you journey through this devotional, you'll gain a more intimate understanding of who God is and how he can be relied upon in every circumstance of your life, enabling you to echo the psalmist's prayer: "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God."

The Doomsday Clock is Ticking. Modern war is not a series of exceptional events. It is a permanent, profitable, and invisible system ? one that makes civilian harm foreseeable, repeated, and disproportionate, while hiding its true costs behind language, law, and distance. The same systems support extractive enterprises and environmental destruction. (Chapter Ten, Ownership of Harm, examines who profits from this destruction and who pays the price.)

In twelve interlinked essays, Terry Malone traces the architecture of permanent war from the battlefields of Gaza and the West Bank to the command centres of the American empire.

This book moves from personal testimony, a family shaped by generations of war, to structural diagnosis. It examines the language that reframes violence as necessity, the myths that legitimise displacement, and the moral gap between knowledge and action. It documents eight decades of U.S. interventions, from Korea and Vietnam to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the 2026 strikes on Iran. It names the defence contractors, asset managers, and political elites who profit from continuous war.

But this is not only a record of harm. It is a call to interrupt it.

Malone sketches four points of action: reclaiming language, applying financial pressure, holding governments to their own laws, and building a positive vision beyond ceasefires. The book ends with an unavoidable question: will those who see the system clearly organise to change it, or will they watch it continue?

Clear comprehension of what's in the Bible and what it means isn't a lost cause. This book provides expert observations so that you can comprehend more of Scripture than you ever have before.

The Bible was written for usーbut not to us. We're not part of the ancient world that informed its writers. We're strangers to their ideas, experiences, and worldview. Because we're cultural and historical outsiders, what we read in the Bible can often be perplexing and leave us with more questions than answers. For instance:

What purpose did Old Testament creation stories and genealogies serve when they were written?

Why do the ancient Israelites talk about the gods of other nations as though they were real?

Why do the gospel accounts differ from each other, and can we trust them?

Is everything in the Bible ultimately about Jesus?

Each of this book's 80 short chapters consist of statements or insights about the Bible, many of which may surprise even those who grew up in a Christian tradition.

Throughout Brief Insights on Mastering the Bible (part of the 60 Second Scholar series), you'll tour each section of Scripture, tackling themes, details, and misunderstandings with the goal of seeing Scripture as what it really is and not what we would prefer that it is.

The path to real biblical understanding requires that we don't make the Bible conform to denominational preferences.

Do you have anyone in your life who can't seem to stick with a project, meet a deadline, or even clean up after themselves? All of us feel we deserve special treatment sometimes. Some people live with this entitled attitude, such as:

Professionals who wander from job to job looking for a boss who will see them as amazing as they consider themselves to be--whether they're productive or not

Young adults who refuse to grow up and so go nowhere

Spouses or dates who believe, "I'm special, and I deserve more than you're giving me"

Leaders who expect special treatment because of their position, not because of their character

If you have a difficult relationship with an entitled person, or if you have discovered entitlement in yourself, understand this: It doesn't have to stay this way. There is a cure. It's called the Hard Way and it works.

In The Entitlement Cure, Dr. John Townsend explains that the Hard Way is a habit that focuses on doing whatever is needed even if it is difficult, uncomfortable, takes longer, and requires more energy. Dr. Townsend offers daily steps, such as risk-taking, to help you or those you love choose the Hard Way.

Ultimately, entitlement fails us. We don't develop the character abilities and relationships necessary to reach success and become the people God intended us to be. By contrast, Hard Way people have better relationships, reach their goals, have a clear job direction, enjoy rich spiritual growth, and are equipped to face and solve challenges.

As Dr. Townsend writes, "Stand against entitlement in every form in which it manifests itself. Resolve your own tendencies toward the disease. Be a loving and firm force for helping those in its trap to find life and hope. And you will make the world a better place." Discover why the Hard Way is the best way in this practical guide to true success.

Are You Called to Ministry?

Those who are involved in full-time ministry often say they have been “called” to do what they do. But what does that mean? Who does the “calling,” and how is it received?

In Prepare Them to Shepherd, pastor Brian Croft unpacks the biblical model for preparing individuals for full-time ministry. In the past, training and sending individuals into full-time pastoral ministry and missionary work was viewed as the responsibility of the local church. Today, much of that responsibility has been delegated to Bible colleges, seminaries, and parachurch and mission organizations.

The aim of Prepare Them to Shepherd is to challenge local churches to recover the biblical model for ministerial training and assume responsibility to identify and prepare gifted and godly individuals for service in Christ’s body. Part of the Practical Shepherding series of books, this insightful book provides pastors and ministry leaders with the practical help they need to test, train, affirm, and send those who are called into ministry.

It is hard to deny that today?s world can seem apathetic toward Christians. Some may look down at their iPhones when we mention God, motion for the check when we bring up church, or casually change the subject when we talk about prayer. In a world full of people whose indifference is greater than their desire to know Christ, how can we dream of growing the church?

In Contagious Disciple Making, David Watson and Paul Watson map out a simple method that has sparked an explosion of homegrown churches in the United States and around the world. A companion to Cityteam's two previous books, Miraculous Movements and The Father Glorified, Contagious Disciple Making details the method used by Cityteam disciple-makers. This distinctive process focuses on equipping spiritual leaders in communities where churches are planted. Unlike many evangelism and church-growth products that focus on quick results, contagious disciple-making takes time to cultivate spiritual leadership, resulting in lasting disciple-making movements. Through Contagious Disciple Making readers will come to understand that a strong and equipped leader will continue to grow the church long after church planters move on to the next church.

Features include:

Engagement tools for use in the field

Practical techniques to equip others to make disciples

What would you do for twenty-four hours if the only criteria were to pursue your deepest joy?

Dan Allender’s lyrical book about the Sabbath expels the myriad myths about this “day of rest,” starting with the one that paints the Sabbath as a day of forced quiet, spiritual exercises, and religious devotion and attendance. This, he says, is at odds with the ancient tradition of Sabbath as a day of delight for both body and soul. Instead, the only way we can make use of the Sabbath is to see God’s original intent for the day with new eyes. In Sabbath, Allender builds a case for delight by looking at this day as a festival that celebrates God’s re-creative, redemptive love using four components:

Sensual glory and beauty

Ritual

Communal feasting

Playfulness

Now you can experience the delight of the Sabbath as you never have beforeーa day in which you receive and extend reconciliation, peace, abundance, and joy.

What is God saying to you in your dreams?

Decoding Your Dreams is a beginner’s guide to understanding the true source of our dreams, dream classifications, and even dream symbols. This book answers questions like:

Can we control our dreams?

I used to dream all the time. Why has my dream life suddenly ceased?

Should I pray for the gift of dream interpretation?

What does it mean if I see people in my dreams who have already passed away?

When do I share a dream I’ve received and when do I keep it to myself?

Where does d?j? vu fit into the world of dreams?

Why should I pay attention to my children’s dreams?

There are dozens of mentions of dreams in the Bible. From Abraham to Joseph, from Daniel all the way to Pontius Pilot’s wife, God has communicated with His people through dreams throughout recorded history.

Why would God choose to speak to us while we sleep? Perhaps it’s because we are too distracted during the day to sit still long enough for Him to share the deep secrets of His heart.

Jennifer LeClaire is convinced God speaks to us in ways that are very personal. At times he may use pictures, memories, impressions, or even a still small voice.

Let Decoding Your Dreams help you embrace your Spirit-inspired dreams!

Walking through Psalm 23 phrase by phrase, therapist and author K.J. Ramsey explores the landscape of our fear, trauma, and faith. How do we hear the Voice of Love when hate and harm shout loud? This book offers an honest path to finding that there is still a Good Shepherd who is always following you.
