In Florian Zeller's The Lie, a companion piece to his earlier play The Truth, Michel and Laurence are coming for dinner. But Alice has spotted Michel kissing another woman that very afternoon, leaving her with a dilemma. Her husband Paul believes it is better to behave as if nothing has happened; Alice is far from sure. An argument ensues and as their own relationship is held up to scrutiny, the question as to who is being protected and why grows ever more difficult to answer.
Translated by Christopher Hampton, The Lie received its English language world premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory, London, in September 2017.

Adapt As An Architect: A Mid-Career Companion is the only book that helps design professionals to navigate the vast heart of the architect’s journey. It serves as a roadmap: a career GPS that provides options for architects getting from where they are today to where they really want to be. The focus of this optimistic, engaging book is on continued relevance, professional engagement, perseverance, and career longevity. It argues that mid-career is the lynchpin of the architect’s career, and provides the guidance and support that practices themselves are missing for emerging professionals, who are often left to their own devices to find their way as they approach the middle of their career. This book means architects don’t need to navigate these years on their own.

Peter Eisenman is one of the most controversial protagonists of the architectural scene, who is known as much for his theoretical essays as he is for his architecture. While much has been written about his built works and his philosophies, most books focus on one or the other aspect. By structuring this volume around the concept of form, Stefano Corbo links together Eisenman’s architecture with his theory. From Formalism to Weak Form: The Architecture and Philosophy of Peter Eisenman argues that form is the sphere of mediation between our body, our inner world and the exterior world and, as such, it enables connections to be made between philosophy and architecture. From the start of his career on, Eisenman has been deeply interested in the problem of form in architecture and has constantly challenged the classical concept of it. For him, form is not simply a cognitive tool that determines a physical structure, which discriminates all that is active from what is passive, what is inside from what is outside. He has always tried to connect his own work with the cultural manifestations of the time: firstly under the influence of Colin Rowe and his formalist studies; secondly, by re-interpreting Chomsky’s linguistic theories; in the 80’s, by collaborating with Derrida and his de-constructivist approach; more recently,by discovering Henri Bergson's idea of Time. These different moments underline different phases, different projects, different programmatic manifestos; and above all, an evolving notion of form. Taking a multi-disciplinary approach based on the intersections between architecture and philosophy, this book investigates all these definitions and, in doing so, provides new insights into and a deeper understanding of the complexity of Eisenman’s work.

Comic Sans is one of the most used and most reviled typefaces of the digital age. How was it made? How could it spawn a movement to ban it and yet still be so widely promoted by educators? What does its accidental creator make of its contentious and singular history?

This quirky and unique book considers how the computer transformed type into something that anyone could use and have an opinion on. It examines how a typeface, correctly used, may sell us almost anything, and how new types with names such as Crash Soul, Lovely Scream Queens and Ampersandist (to name but three recent examples of the hundreds issued each year) each attempt to keep the alphabet exciting and new. And it concludes with an alluring question: could Comic Sans now be the coolest typeface ever made?

This atlas of architectural design advocates rational as well as humanistic principles in the development of the urban environment. Drawing upon the ideals that inspired the great Roman architect, it promotes the Vitruvian maxims of longevity, beauty, and commodity. It also defines the thinking behind modern American city planning.
First published in 1922, The American Vitruvius arose from a collaboration between two students of American urbanism. Werner Hegemann, an urban planner, and Elbert Peets, a graduate of Harvard's School of Landscape Architecture, selected more than 1,200 plans, elevations, and perspective views. Their choices depict a tremendous variety of European and American structures dating from the Renaissance to the early twentieth century. Ranging from Rome's vast Piazza San Pietro to modest German and English garden suburbs, this volume explores all manner of urban design, including American college campuses, parks, and cemeteries; L'Enfant's plan of Washington, DC; and other civic centers.
Design Book Review hailed this classic as "the most complete single-volume survey of canonical cases of urbanism," offering "a scintillating collection of uncommon and forgotten designs." An essential reference for every architect and student of architecture, this affordable edition is of particular value in light of the current New Urbanism trend.

The Kindle Bestselling book featured on TV's "ACCESS HOLLYWOOD"

DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS... Every movie and TV star has one. So does every agent and manager. Some producers and studio execs have two or even three. I'm talking about an assistant. Someone to answer your phones, pick up your dry cleaning. Someone to hide your drugs. Your assistant knows what you eat, who you're sleeping with and what medications you're taking. They listen in on your phone calls. They are the eyes and ears of Hollywood... and occasionally they talk. Culled from dozens of interviews with former and current Hollywood assistants, Where's My Fcking Latte is a no-holds barred insider's look at what really goes on behind Tinseltown's closed doors.

PRAISE FOR "WHERE'S MY FCKING LATTE?"
"I can tell you firsthand that what goes on behind-the-scenes of Hollywood's glittering facade is usually shocking, insane and full of sex offers. Where's My Fcking Latte perfectly captures the abusive and often hysterically unbelievable world of celebs and Tinseltown power-brokers and the culture of excess and entitlement they live in. Two thumbs WAY, WAY UP!"
- Daniella Cracknell, Publicist to many of TV's iconic stars from Dick Clark, Howie Mandel, Geraldo Rivera, Mario Lopez to name a few...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff is a bestselling and award-winning author living in Los Angeles who has been known to occasionally moonlight as a TV host, voice-over artist and rock journalist. A professional composer of music for television for many years, opportunity knocked and transformed him into a screen/TV writer and author featured on "Access Hollywood." Then a podcast recorded in his car became a weeknightly drive-time radio show on Sirius Sateillite Radio.

Lito

Lito@Leafart(リト@葉っぱ切り絵)

 「?將筆尖浸入黒色的墨水池?,寫下文字;

Short collection of poetry. According to Wikipedia: "William Morris (24 March 1834 3 October 1896) was an English architect, furniture and textile designer, artist, writer, and socialist associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the English Arts and Crafts Movement. Born in Walthamstow in north London, Morris was educated at Marlborough and Oxford. In 1856, he became an apprentice to Gothic revival architect G. E. Street. That same year he founded the Oxford and Cambridge Magazine, an outlet for his poetry and a forum for development of his theories of hand-craftsmanship in the decorative arts. In 1861, Morris founded a design firm in partnership with the artist Edward Burne-Jones, and the poet and artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti which had a profound impact on the decoration of churches and houses into the early 20th century. Morris's chief contribution was as a designer of repeating patterns for wallpapers and textiles, many based on a close observation of nature. He was also a major contributor to the resurgence of traditional textile arts and methods of production. Morris wrote and published poetry, fiction, and translations of ancient and medieval texts throughout his life. His best-known works include The Defence of Guenevere and Other Poems (1858), The Earthly Paradise (18681870), A Dream of John Ball and the utopian News from Nowhere.

Welcome to Breaking Glass, an introduction to the art and design of stained glass. A step by step guide to the techniques, tricks and tips on how to create Stained Glass Art, ‘Breaking Glass’ includes sections on selecting glass, the tools which are required and others which are recommended. Subjects covered include how to use those tools, safety guidelines, how to cut, grind, fit and assemble the pieces and display beautiful stained glass art. Each step is clearly explained via text and photographs.
~
Today, stained glass remains both an industry and a hobby. Churches still order stained glass windows for their cathedrals, mostly as depictions of scenes from the bible. Many commercial buildings have stained glass art prominently displayed. People buy stained glass ‘Tiffany’ style lamps for their living rooms and order colorful windows for their homes, ranging from scenery to abstract art. A good quality lamp can cost hundreds of dollars. Stained glass windows can easily go into the thousands.

As with any art, you can buy something created by someone else, or you can learn the art and do it yourself. Unlike some art forms, stained glass can be done in small scale by anyone with an interest and a steady hand. Pre-done patterns can be purchased at the local bookstore. Most cities have a glass shop which carries glass and stained glass supplies. If not, Internet sites abound. Tools are relatively inexpensive and easy to acquire. All you need is a little assistance, a guide to walk you through the steps of creation. What you have in your hands is that guide.

‘Breaking Glass’ is written to give you the introductory guide to creating stained glass art, including lampshades, windows and three dimensional objects. It introduces you to the various tools and techniques used, then walks you through the five steps of creating, cutting, grinding, assembly and finishing. Following along with the book allows the you to understand the art form, including creation of your own patterns. By the end, you will be able to tailor-make your own stained glass art.

I’ve chosen to make this book pictorial rather than wordy. I’m a firm believer that a picture speaks a thousand words, so I’ve tried to show, and only talked enough to guide you through what the picture depicts. I’ve also chosen the size of the book so I can fit in lots of pictures, while keeping the pictures big enough that you can clearly see the detail shown without needing a magnifying glass. Lastly, I’ve focused on giving you an overall introduction to creating stained glass art, so you can create your own designs and art to suit your needs.

You don’t have to be an expert to follow the steps in this book. You don’t have to have any experience in glass work, you simply need to have an interest and a desire to create something. I will guide you through the process in five easy-to-follow steps. You only need a few tools, though I show you other tools that can be useful. You can choose how much to invest and how many tools to buy. The basic tools can be purchased for one hundred to one hundred and fifty dollars. The glass is easy to buy and inexpensive, ranging anywhere from five to ten dollars per square foot.

Sound interesting? Well, if you haven’t already done so, buy the book. Pick up a few tools, buy some glass, follow along with the book and let’s start breaking glass.

Within the next hour, our operatives will isolate, engage and capture or kill the notorious leader of the most extreme, dangerous and contagious ideology to emerge in the modern era, whose terror activities represent the gravest threat to our interests across the region and the wider world. I refer, of course, to the radical preacher and populist demagogue Y'shua Bar-Yessuf ? the man known, by way of shorthand to our operatives, as “Jesus”.

Satan, the narrator of Justin Butcher's one-man play who is looking out for our best interests, is on a mission to harness the ways of the dangerous extremist preacher Jesus. Jesus' radical teachings and popularity have the potential to wreak havoc in the Middle East. This is exactly the sort of man the government warn us of, again and again.

This clever and evocative passion play from the devil's perspective considers Jesus' relevance to contemporary issues, and retells the story of Christ's life from the perspective of the enemy. The Devil's Passion received its world premiere in June 2015 at St James's, Piccadilly, and was revived and toured in 2016.

Jane Eyre is the story of a young, orphaned girl (shockingly, she's named Jane Eyre) who lives with her aunt and cousins, the Reeds, at Gateshead Hall. Like all nineteenth-century orphans, her situation pretty much sucks. Mrs. Reed hates Jane and allows her son John to torment the girl.

This book presents the complete score for Claude-Achille Debussy's 1905 solo piano suite, “Suite bergamasque”. Claude-Achille Debussy (1862 ? 1918) was a seminal French composer. He is considered to be one of the most important pioneers of Impressionist music and was among the most popular composers during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Debussy's work is famous for its sensory style and use of unconventional tonalities. This piece constitutes one of the most famous piano suites by Debussy. He began composing it when he was 28, but postponed publishing it for fifteen years. During that time, the suite was considerably altered and revised. With large, clear note heads and wide margins, this edition is perfect for studying and following the music. Classic Music Collection constitutes an extensive library of the most well-known and universally-enjoyed works of classical music ever composed, reproduced from authoritative editions for the enjoyment of musicians and music students the world over.
